Mod About Stripes

I found myself obsessed with Jean Seberg's 50s/60s dress from the movie À Bout de Soufflé lately, I'm on a -really hard- mission to find a similar one (vintage of course)!

While my admiration for this dress is obvious, I realized I have always had a thing for stripes. It's a classic, timeless style that no matter which fashion era your in they will always be trendy.

So, where did it all come from ?

Coco Chanel first introduced the "marinière" t-shirt in the feminine fashion in 1917 at her shop in Deauville, France. And since then it never went out of fashion. Women all over the world have adopted this chic, iconic look, and designers started re-creating the stripes in different cuts for their runway looks, making from the "marinière" one of the most important trends in the fashion industry.
